Seahawks lose a close one to the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football

Despite a strong performance by the offense, Terry Hollimon discusses why the Seahawks came up short against the Cowboys. Sponsored by Muckleshoot Casino.

SEATTLE — The Seahawks racked up more than 400 total yards on offense, but the team still lost to the Cowboys, 41-35. The close, high-scoring game was the most-watched Thursday Night Football game since the series moved to Amazon Prime Video last year.

“I did like the way the offense came out strong,” Terry Hollimon said. “Geno Smith, he had been having some rough games, and he came out looking very well. He was delivering the ball all over the place. A lot of good receivers were making plays early in the game.”

DK Metcalf is Hollimon’s player of the game with six catches for 134 yards, including a 73-yard catch. He also scored three touchdowns in the game.

“It was best game of the year for DK,” Hollimon said of his performance.

The run game, though, wasn’t as strong as the passing game. With Kenneth Walker III out with an injury, the Seahawks recorded 72 yards rushing and weren’t able to control the clock as much as they would have liked. This allowed Cowboy quarterback Dak Prescott and star receiver CeeDee Lamb time to move the ball.

“If we were able to run the ball a little better, keep the ball out of the Dallas’ offense’s hands, I think we could have had a different outcome,” Hollimon said.

With a three-game losing streak, the Seahawks will head to San Francisco for a showdown with the 9-3 49ers. The Hawks will then take on the 10-2 Eagles.

“The Seahawks have their work cut out for them at the end of the season,” Hollimon said. “It’s going to be a juggernaut for them to go through this next patch of games.”

Hollimon says the San Francisco 49ers look like the best team in football right now and are stacked at every position, including top running back Christian McCaffrey.

“On defense, they have monsters on every single level, from the defensive line to the linebackers. At the same time, even monsters can get beat.”

The Seahawks will look to improve to 7-6 against the Niners on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
