I’ve always been a big story teller, which my parents can attest to. As a kid, I would stand in the driveway of our home in Minneapolis and pretend it was full of people listening to the stories, songs or poems I had written. Eventually, I was able to swap my imaginary audience for a real one and I’m forever grateful.
I joined the KING 5 team in April 2021 as a reporter and multi-skilled journalist, and am thrilled to call Seattle home.
I moved to Seattle from Indianapolis where I spent two years as a multimedia journalist and reporter for WISH-TV.
Before Indianapolis, I spent a decade in New York City working in the digital space. I started my career as an entertainment reporter covering red carpet events like Tribeca Film Festival and NY Fashion Week before making my way into news. I then worked for Zazoom Media Group, producing videos for syndication on USA Today, AOL and MSN, and as a video producer and host at the New York Post.
When I’m not looking for story ideas, I like to travel, sing, go to museums, watch shark documentaries, try new wines and cook. My husband says he likes my food, but I think he’s supposed to say that.
I’m also a big runner and have raced in all six world major marathons. A virtual high five for anyone who knows what they are!
I graduated from Michigan State University and also have a master’s degree in Media Studies from The New School in NYC.
I am exploring the beautiful and diverse state of Washington and would love to hear from you, the people who help make it so great. Email me at AKakade@king5.com or connect on Twitter.
