Reporter

As a general assignment reporter for KING 5, I cover a little of everything – but I often pursue stories about people protecting the environment we love in the Pacific Northwest. I also report often on disaster preparation, emergency management and public policy.

Over the past decade I’ve reported on location during historic floods, landslides, wildfires and winter storms, breaking stories about toxic pollution, invasive species and environmental justice. Prior to working at KING 5, I reported for KENS 5 in San Antonio, where I spent extensive time on the immigration and military beats, and KOB 4 in Albuquerque, where I covered public safety and politics.

I began my TV career behind-the-scenes at NBC News in New York City, working as a researcher for the TODAY Show. I’ve been honored with EMMY and “Best of the City” reporter awards, along with fellowships from the Peter Jennings Project and International Radio-Television Society. I earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri and a Master of Public Administration from Texas A&M International University, and grew up in Ohio, Mississippi, Georgia and Illinois.

Off deadline I love live music, baking and hiking. I’d love your recommendations for bookstores, coffee shops and gorgeous views across the Pacific Northwest- along with your story ideas! You can find me on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter or email me at ezucco@king5.com.
