WASHINGTON — Actress Shannen Doherty recently shared a new development in her ongoing cancer battle.

The "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" star told PEOPLE that her Stage 4 breast cancer has spread to her bones.

The update comes months after Doherty revealed that she had brain metastases, a condition where cancer cells spread from the original site to the brain.

"I don't want to die," Doherty told PEOPLE in an interview. "I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better."

"I’m just not — I’m not done," she continued.

Doherty was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission in 2017. The actress has been outspoken about her diagnosis and has documented her cancer battle on social media.

But by 2020, Doherty announced that she had been battling with a recurrence of breast cancer that had progressed to stage four.

In her interview with PEOPLE, Doherty said she's most motivated by her desire to prove that she can still work despite having cancer.

"People just assume that it means you can’t walk, you can’t eat, you can’t work. They put you out to pasture at a very early age —‘You’re done, you’re retired,’ and we’re not," she told the magazine.

The actress continues to get treatment for her cancer and shared that she hopes to be a part of clinical trials as new treatments come about.

"My greatest memory is yet to come," she told the magazine. "I pray. I wake up and go to bed thanking God, praying for the things that matter to me without asking for too much. It connects me to a higher power and spirituality. My faith is my mantra.
